"I hate that monkey!"

Look to the right.  What do you see?  Our awesome new poll!  So go click on your favorite Pirates of the Caribbean pet.  And if you want to share with us why, then please comment below!  In the meantime, I'm going to try to influence your vote by sharing my favorite and why.
4) The Kraken
I have a few problems with Davy Jones disgusting sea pet.  First of all, he ate Captain Jack Sparrow, which would obviously annoy any sensible person.  I mean, I know Jack is awesome and all, but please don't devour him.  Although, it is pretty cool how the Kraken can eat a whole ship without even coming above the water.  But not so cool for the sailors, I suppose.  The jokes on the Kraken though, because in the end, Jack survives, as does the Pearl and its the awful sea monster that ends up laying dead and decaying on a beach while Pintel and Ragetti make plans to serve him up as a Souviner
3) Cotton's Parrot
Cotton joins Jack Sparrow's crew at the beginning of The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl when Gibbs rounds up a crew for Jack and sticks around though the next three movies, always remaining loyal to Jack.  At least, we think so because he's never said otherwise.  Of course, that's because he doesn't have a tongue (got it chopped out for leaking a secret round Tortuga).  But instead of using sign language, he trains his parrot to talk for him.  So when Jack asks Cotton to join his crew, he has to assume that "Wind in the sails" translates to "yes".  He says a lot of other pirate-y phrases like "Dead men tell no tales" and "walk the plank".  I totally would love to have a pirate parrot.
2) Prison Dog
It seems like every young adventerous boy grows up with a loving dog!  Well, Jack Sparrow is no exception.  Raised by the Keeper of the Code, Jack grew pretty fond of the scruffy dog who kept track of the keys.  But this dog seems to make quite a few appearances outside of Jack's childhood.  He's the prison dog at Fort Charles Prison in Port Royal, Jamaica, where Jack runs into him again and calls him some very not nice things.  But then Pintel and Ragetti bust out of that jail with the help of the dog and take him to the Isla de Pelegostos.  The canibals there decide the dog is a god (maybe because the two words are eachother backwards!), so they start to worship him.  Just when we think we've seen the last of him, he returns back to his original home!  He's at Shipwreck Cove, guarding the keys of the Pirate Code for Captain Teague again.  This is just mind boggling to the silly pirates (then again, so is everything else).  So is it just the same dog, over and over again who is just transported around the world by sea turtles or is it just that all pirates love a dog like him?  The world will never know . . .
1) Jack the Monkey
I don't mean to be insulting to our lovely Captain Jack Sparrow, but I do love this little undead monkey.  Actually, I more love how much everybody hates him.  He pretty much runs around the deck doing Barbossa's will in the first movie.  But once Barbossa is dead, Jack the monkey is free to roam the Pearl being an abnoxious little pest.  Jack however, loves to shoot the undead monkey, which has got to be fun.  They decide to get rid of him by locking him in a cage and giving him to Tia Dalma.  But of course, she just lets him out the second she gets him.  Just a little counterproductive.  And then Hector Barbossa comes back to life and he and his precious little monkey sidekick make more trouble for Jack and the crew.  But wait, there's more!  That little monkey finally gets what he deserves when Blackbeard shrinks the little pest into a bottle, where his is trapped until Gibbs and Jack can find a goat.  Hmmm, hopefully there will be another pet in the next movie!  Baaaaaaaa!

"Dying is the day worth living for."

Now that Pirate King Elizabeth Swann has mobilized the Brethren Court with her beautiful speech, she's ready to take on Beckett and his men.  All the while, Calypso is making a great big storm in the sky complete with lightning and thunder.  And like any rational people would do, the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman chage head first into the danderous storm.  Gibbs is the first to annouce the ovious: "Maelstrom!"  Now incase you don't know what a maelstrom is, as I did not at first.  It is a huge whirlpool.  So this giant spinnig whole kinda freaks out Elizabeth (who is still on the Black Pearl rather than her own ship).  So she looks to the great Hector Barbossa for help, who is strangely just staring at his hand.  Elizabeth: "Captain Barbossa! We need you at the helm."
Barbossa glares at the female pirate for a little while, and eventually relents.  Barbossa: "Aye, that be true."  Such humility amoung pirates.  So he stomps over to the wheel, pushing Cotton aside in the process.  Barbossa: "Brace up yards, you cack-handed deck apes.  Dying is the day worth living for!"  Wise words by Captain Hector Barbossa, Pirate Lord of the Caspain Sea.  So finally under good hands, (although not Jack's because he's been locked up on the Dutchman thanks to a certain someone) the Pearl continues onward.  Meanwhile, on the Dutchman, everyone is freaking out about the giant whole in the middle of the sea with lightning constantly striking it, well everyone except Davy Jones, who seems to think it's no concern to him.  Yolo!  (Sorry, I had to.)  It's during this time that Will and Elizabeth prove to everyone how demanding and bossy they are together.  Boy do I feel for William Turner III.
Will: "Take us out or they'll overbear us."  Barbossa: "Nay.  Further in.  We'll cut across to faster waters."  Elizabeth: "Prepare to broadside!"  Gibbs: "Captain the guns.  Bear a hand."  Will: "Muster your courage, men.  At the ready."  Seriously, this is one of my favorite scenes of the whole series (which explaisn the many posts on it!).  It's just so epic and intense!  You've got the rain and the screaming and the engergy and the music!  Gibbs: "Batten down the hatches!  Stand to your guns.  Midship cannoneers, sight the masts."  Gibbs is running around the whole ship, rightfully giving orders to the frantic crew, unlike another couple I know . . .  And finally, know that the whole crew is loaded, the firing begins.  Now, if anyone on earth did not notice that they were meant to fire, they really must have been out of it, because first Barbossa yells: "FIRE!"
Then, Elizabeth: "FIRE!"  Then Gibbs: "Fire!  Fire! Fire all!"  And then over to the other side.  Davy Jones: "Fire!"  Now back the Pearl.  Will: "Fire!"  Can we say it a few more times maybe?  Gibbs: "Come on, men."  Joshamee Gibbs, a man of great encouragement.  Barbossa: "It be too late to alter course now, mateys."  Thank you Captain obvious.  Why are the only things that ever come out of Hector Barbossa's mouth either extremely obious or extrememly hard to follow.  I can speak Jack, not always Barbossa though.  And then of course, this nonsense is followed by his constant cackling.  Not to mention, no one is even listening.  But he make his point clear, Elizabeth has lead the Brethren Court to the point of no return.

"Attacked and sunk by one of our own"

Time to talk about my favorite book!  Once again, if you haven't read The Price of Freedom, get out.  Go buy yourself the book and then come back here and tell me what you think.
One of the reasons I really like this book is that it introduces new PotC characters as well as bringing back some familiar faces, like Captain Hector Barbossa.  Like in The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Barbossa has unfairly lost his ship to a bunch of pirates with no mercy.  But unlike in OST, Barbossa's ship is sunk and he doesn't know who actually did it.  So the Brethren Court are out to catch the infamous rogue pirates who caused this mess.  Barbossa comes to testify in front of the Brethren Court at Shipwreck cove, along with his remaining crew including Pintel and Ragettie and One Tooth Tommy, the few that survived the attack.  Once again, similiar to OST, the captain did not go down with his ship.  Barbossa really needs to work on not loosing his ship and get the courage to actually die like a good captain.
Anyways, Jack is present at the Brethren Court meeting at the time, even though he's not yet a Pirate Lord.  He's just there trying to flirt with Esmeralda, who's grandfather is a Pirate Lord.  They both stick around to hear Barbossa so they can spend more time together.  Awwww.  So here Barbossa goes: "Gents . . . Ladies . . . "tis lucky I am to be standing here afore ye today.  Two months ago, almost to the day, me ship Cobra was attacked and sunk by one of our own.  We had raised our true colors, and yet still they tried to slaughter us.  We were atttacked by one of our won brethren . . . a clear violation of the Code, 'twas."  Jack notes that Barbossa has a SUPER piratey voice.  Barbossa: "And hard tellin it be, sir.  Every time I think about me poor Polly . . ."  Mistress chin: "Who is this Polly?  Your doxy?"  Baarbossa: "Course not, ma'am.  'Tis bad luck to be bringing a woman aboard a ship.  Polly ain't-warn't-human."  Warn't?  That's one I haven't hear before, even from a pirate.  Villanueva: "Polly, that is the English name of a parrot."  Barbossa: "I did have a parrot named Polly once.  A fine bird he was, but he messed up the shoulder of me jacket.  But the Olly I lost after the battle was me little monkey.  Pretty little thing, she was.  Understood every word I said to her."
He had a monkey named parrot.  That's just strange.  It's like if I had a gold fish named cat, or a bunny named snake.  Let's face it, Barboass is weird.  I think Jack is a more appropriate name for a monkey.  But Teague doesn't really care about Barbossa's pets, he just wants to know about the attack.  Barbosssa: "Aye, well.  Let me tell it as it happened, gents and ladies.  Me ship was tidy little schooner, name of Cobra. We were sailin' the waters north of Bermuda, on our way back from an encounter we'd had with a Frency barque.  Took a nice haul, we did.  Ivory.  We were ridin' low in the water, so laden we be.  Then me topman spies a sail.  We thought we'd take a look, so we changed course, and they must have spotted us, too, because they did likewise."
Yeah, maybe changing course straight to a rogue pirate was not a smart idea.  Barbossa: "The moment we raised our true colors, that sloop, he run up his flag, too.  A red flag, with a black demon skull on it.  "Twas then I knew for certain that he was another pirate.  We all had a good laugh, me and the crew.  We waved at 'em,  They waved back.  Then I gives the order to come about, to put a rudder to 'em.  The code calls for us to respect our fellows on the account, and I was abiding to it."  You'd think Barbossa would know not to trust a pirate who sails under the red flag.  Well, it stinks for him that he didn't because then the ship starts to attack him.  The Cobra right back, but eventually it goes down.  Barbossa was in the water with no boar, but lucky for him Pintela and Ragetti, who are in a boat, pick him up to saftey.
Barbossa: "Fools they be, but I'm grateful to 'em."  Yes, we can tell that Barbossa is just so nice to Pintel and Ragetti.  Eventually, the three are able to row to a small island until a ship is able to take them to Tortuga.  Don Rafael takes them from Tortuga to Shipwreck cove so Barbossa can testify.  We can't feel too bad for Barbossa though.  He just ends up stealing an even nicer ship from Jack.  I mean, who doesn't love the Black Pearl?

"You've been planning this from the beginning."

One might say that Jack Sparrow and Will Turner have had a rocky past. It started with a duel, Which Jack won I might add. And it was all downhill from there. Jack and Will formed a partnership and went off to rescue Will's secret love Elizabeth Swann. Now this might seem wonderful and friendly so far, but just wait! They found dear Lizzie and then dumb Will got her and Jack marooned on an island. Jack and miss Damsel in Distress were then rescued by Norrington, Elizabeth's almost fiance. While on board Norrington's ship

Elizabeth tries and fails to convince Norrington and her father the Governor of Port Royal that they have to go and find The Black Pearl  to rescue her beloved Will. If at first you don't succeed try try again they say.  And try she did. In the end she had to promise her hand in marriage to our favorite naval officer James Norrington.  So the ship set sail yet again in search of Will.

Upon arrival Jack had a nice heart to heart with Norrington, he laid out a perfect plan for Norrington (which he later ignored) and then convinced James to allow him to enter the island and negotiate with the Pirates. As soon as he arrived on Isla de Muerta Jack was putting his plan into action. When he was "captured
by Hector Barbossa Jack laid it all on the table. He puts Will's life on the line but he was trying to help the pirates really he was!: Hector: "I suppose in exchange, you want me not to kill the whelp." Jack: "No, no, no. Not at all. By all means, kill the whelp. Just not yet. Wait to lift the curse until the opportune moment. For instance...After you've killed Norrington's men. Every last one."[Jack steals an Aztec gold coin] Will:"You've been planning this from the beginning. Ever since you learned my name."Jack: "Well...Yeah."   Why does Will's name matter? Well the cursed crew of the Black Pearl needs Will's blood to de-curseify them. Now if Norrington had listened to Jack they would've been saved from the onslaught of invincible pirates. But Norrington is a bit prideful and didn't use Jack's plan.  Hopefully He and Elizabeth will live to fight another day...Oh wait Elizabeth escaped the watchful eye of the officer's and rowed to the island to join in the excitement during the pirate attack. Possibly her smartest move ever.
She quickly reunites with Will. Jack is off fighting Barbossa and doing quite well until Barbossa strikes what he thought was the killing blow, just then Jack stepped into the moonlight and shows his little secret, he too is cursed. Remember that coin Jack stole from the chest earlier, Well because of that little theft Jack became cursed like the rest of the crew. So the fight could go on forever. Lucky for Jack he has Will in his corner and whenever Jack chooses to end it he can just drip some blood in the chest, and it will all be over. IF Jack ever wants to end it that is...

"He's a mute, sir"

On this website, we've tried to provide you with lots of Pirates of the Caribbean of the Caribbean quotes, sharing with your some of our favorite scenes from the movies.  But I was thinking, we have all of these quotes throughout the blog, but we haven't really told you which are our favorites.  So here comes the answer!
10) "Stop blowing holes in my ship!"
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.  Does anyone else find it a little ironic that Jack is in the brig of his own ship as his own crew attacks his beloved ship?  Or is that just me?  Because he wants to defeat Barbossa but it's hard to do that without damaging the ship Barbossa's on.
9) "Seaweed can be a sign." "Looks like entrails."  "That would be a bad sign."
-crazy sailors on board Edinburgh Trader in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.  Elizabeth sure throws these sailors into a tizzy when she becomes a stow away on their ship.  She then tries to send them signs with the illusion that her dress if floating.  They then try to frantically figure out what she's trying to say.
8) "The Santiago. Famously captained by Ponce de León.  Hm. No one there. Right, then."
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.  Jack is going on and on with all the facts he knows abou the Santiago as he aproaches it to find the chalices.  He turns around to adress his audience, and then realizes that there is none.  Awkward.  But then again, we are his ever loyal audience and we do indeed love to hear his words of wisdom!
7) "That is without doubt the worst pirate I have ever seen."
-James Norrington in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.  Norrington thinks Jack isn't a very good pirate, but in reality, Jack's just good at thinking on his feet! He's always got a trick up his sleeve, that most people don't even understand.  And the funny part of this scene is that two minutes later, Theodore Groves, who works for the Royal Navy under Commodore Norrington's command, declares: "That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen!"  How ironic.  Of course, Norrington isn't too please with this.
6) "Cuttlefish eh? Let us not dear friends forget our dear friends the cuttlefish. Glorious little sausages."
- Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Your probably wondering what on earth this means. Or your wondering if Jack has a creepy obsesion over cuttlefish. The answer to the second is no. the answer to the first is that Jack is trying to convince the Pirate Lords that if they stay in Shipwreck cove they will destroy themselves. So of course he uses the glorious little sausages, a.k.a cuttle fish, as an example.

5)
"Risky thing, helping slaves escape. If you'll recall, slave hunters have large, fierce dogs, and they carry pistols. The slave hunters, not the dogs."
-Jack Sparrow in The Price of Freedom.  Okay, I'm not going to lie: this quote cracks me up every time.  Jack is agreeing to help Beckett convince his slave to run away with him.  And run away slaves are not taken likely for this time period, so Jack makes the point that he'd be really stepping out on a limb by taken Ayisha.  But, as usual, Captain Jack Sparrow throws in his lovely sense of humor to seal the deal!

4) "Gentlemen, m'lady; you will always remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow."
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.  This is one of Jack's favorite catch phrases.  He loves to pull it out as he escapes his enemies once again, but unfortunately he doesn't always have time.  Sometimes he gets hit with a wave, other times he falls of a cliff.
3) "Lots of rum, lots of women.  That's Jack for you."
-Esmeralda Maria Consuela Anna de Sevilla in the Price of Freedom.  Esmeralda is explaining to Princess Amenirdis that Jack is quite the character.  He's a great pirate and has a brilliant personality, but she shouldn't be fooled, because Jack's as crazy and wild as the sea he loves so dearly.   And let's not even get started on the rum!
2) "Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy?"
-Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. We all know Jack is awesome. Will knows Jack is awesome. Gibbs knows Jack is awesome. Elizabeth knows Jack is awesome. Does Jack know he's awesome? Honestly I wasn't really sure until he says this line to the Royal Navy letting us all know he knows that everyone knows that he is awesome. Do you think I sounded like Jack there?
1) "Why is the rum always gone?"
-Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Deadman's Chest. So we all know that Jack loves rum. And we all know what he does when there's rum in the same room as him. HE DRINKS IT. But what happens when there isn't anymore rum in the room with Jack? I think the answer to that is as follows. He goes and finds the nearest rum possible. So in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest that is what Jack does while sitting around onboard the Black Pearl. But of course the simple act of finding rum must be exciting so to find the rum Jack goes down to the creepy, dark cellar, and you'll never guess who he meets. . .

I know that this favorite list is a little different than many of our previous ones in that it isn't accompanied by a poll.  But nonetheless we still would love to hear your favorite PotC quote!  So please comment and let us know!

"A short drop and sudden stop."

Lets face it, Norrington hated pirates. "I intend to see to it that any man who sails under a pirate flag or wears a pirate brand gets what he deserves: A short drop and sudden stop." Well that is until he became one. Why would a high ranking Navy officer leave and join the hated trade of piracy you might ask;  they say it was all the pirates fault....

Eight years after  the rescue of Will Turner and our first sighting of the Norrington, he was promoted to Commodore. After the ceremony he stepped out on a limb and proposed to the girl of his dreams; I, uh, apologize if I seem forward, but I must speak my mind. This promotion throws into sharp relief that which I have not yet achieved. A marriage to a fine woman. You have become a fine woman, Elizabeth." (In my opinion he should've built up some confidence before proposing, and maybe a bit of romance. But thats just me.) Lets just say his proposal to Elizabeth Swann didn't go as planned; she was so overcome with shock (and lack of oxygen) that she fainted, causing her to topple off the towering fortress into the ocean and right into the arms of a pirate well sort of...Jack was standing nearby and dove in to rescue her her lack of oxygen forced Jack to rip off her dress and eventually the overly tight corset.
Being the wonderful gentlemen that he was Norrington gathered his shocked men and rushed off to save his almost fiance from the offensive pirate. Quickly assessing the situation incorrectly (or maybe just showing off for his 'girl') Norrington arrested Jack Sparrow who in turn grabbed Elizabeth and held her hostage, but only for a short while. Jack the illustrious pirate escaped custody quite easily after he threw Lizzie into the welcoming arms of Norrington and ran up a ladder and into the city. However the freedom was short lived. Jack stumbled into what he thought was an empty blacksmith shop. Unfortunately for him his future frienenmy Will Turner was the apprentice of the blacksmith who owned the shop.
They had a nice little duel before the drunken smithy woke up and cracked his alcoholic beverage bottle on Jacks head.  At that moment Norrington and his men stormed in and Mr. Drunkypants got all the credit for subduing the pirate. Norrington threw Jack into prison like the good crime fight he was. Yay Norrington! If only Jack was the only pirate Norrington had to deal with. Soon after this little encounter the pirate ship The Black Pearl came sailing in to recover the pirate medallion Elizabeth had around her neck when she fell into the ocean.
If Norrington hadn't proposed to Elizabeth none of his would've happened and we wouldn't have this wonderful story. So lets all take a moment to thank him for his wonderful acts of stupidity...Ok back to the pirates; The Black Pearl wasn't just any old pirate ship. It was captained and crew by a group of cursed men who didn't have the ability to die.  So for Norrington's second act of bravery as a newly promoted Commodore he was expected to fight those men. While he was off with all his men fighting the unbeatable pirates, Elizabeth was off getting captured again. Its a good thing she has such a great man like Norrington to depend on. Haha or not, Will Turner the blacksmith's apprentice ran to dear old Norrington to report her capture: "They've taken her! They've taken Elizabeth!"  Norrington couldn't rescue her because he didn't know how to track the sneaky ship.
So Will turned to his dueling partner Jack for help, Jack off course agrees. But how exactly is her supposed to get out of the prison and then Port Royal? Well he does the one thing he knows to do. He steals a ship. Unfortunately for Norrington it was his ship that Jack stole. Two brave Navy men tried to stop him, but of course they failed. Jack and Will set sail in hopes of finding Will (and Norrington's) damsel in distress.  Norrington was also on the hunt, but i'm not sure if he was searching for Elizabeth or if he was simply seeking revenge to heal his wounded pride.

"You can mistrust me less than you can mistrust him"

When I go to the beach i like to build sandcastles, When Jack, Norrington, and Elizabeth go to the beach they hunt for hearts...Weirdos. After Gibbs spotted land the trio a fore mentioned accompanied  by the silly pirates headed inland armed with shovels, swords and Jack's compass. They start searching the beach unsuccessfully at first, But Jack enlisted the help of Elizabeth's butt, he tossed her the compass and apparently she was sitting on the spot of the buried chest, Shes no princess! They dig up the chest with their handy pirate shovels, unfortunately it has a lock. Lucky for them Will pops up with the key. Will went through great and nasty things to get the key from its owner; Davy Jones.
Will is a not a huge fan of Jack right now, Ha well I wouldn't be either if I were sold into slavery on a pirate ship full of whack jobs; undead whack jobs at that! So they (Jack and Will) have a quick chat after a kiss from his sweet-heart/crazy-lady Elizabeth , Jack: "We cannot let him get the chest, Will, trust me on this. You can mistrust me less than you can mistrust him, trust me." Will: "He just wants Elizabeth for himself." Jack: "Pot. Kettle. Black."
Clearly that chat didn't go so well because after a short discussion between all three of the male pirates three swords were drawn and Jack, Will, and Norrington were off to the races  swinging those swords all along the way. They headed into the jungle and stumbled upon some ruins and a pretty awesome fight took place.  They skipped along the skimpy ruins, Jack somehow snagged the key from Will while avoiding a swipe from Norrington and disengaged from the fight.  Will and Norrington accidentally dislodged a disintegrating water wheel and started rolling towards Jack. Jack disengaged again by hiding in a grave. The wheel rolled past him, while they weren't looking
Jack went off to find the chest.  Elizabeth was chasing after the silly pirates who had grabbed the chest  when she  looked behind her and saw some of the previously mentioned whack jobs where also chasing the silly pirates, Jack happened upon this fight and grabbed the chest. After he had escaped from the seeing eyes of his companions he opened the chest and grabbed the heart. Jack left behind the empty chest (later to be picked up by one of the silly pirates i think) and rushed off with the heart.  The whole group of living pirates met up on the beach and continued to fight for a little while longer. During all of this Jack hid the heart in his jar of dirt where he though it would be safe and returned to the fight.
Meanwhile the undead pirates showed up and joined the fight at some point Norrington noticed the dirt that Jack had spilled in his rushed attempt to hide the heart and pooped open the jar dumped its contents. He discovered the heart and grabbed it, hiding it in his nasty uniform. He rejoined the group quickly before anyone noticed his absence in during the fight. To distract the pirates Norrington was sent of into the jungle with the empty chest while the other pirates fled the island in the long boat that they arrived in. When the undead pirates overtook Norrington he dropped the chest and ran off further into the jungle. One of the whack jobs discovered the chest was empty and was understandably angry about his failure to complete the mission. The undead crew members reluctantly returned to their ship the Flying Dutchman and told Davy Jones about the loss of his heart. The Flying Dutchman quickly sailed of to chase Jack Sparrow who they thought had their Captain's precocious heart.

"We summon you."

As creepy and evil as Davy Jones' is, he actually helps out the Brethren Court in the book The Price of Freedom.  All the Brethren believe that Boris Palachnik is the infamous rogue pirate who they've all been looking for.  Well, everyone except Boris, or Borya as he's better known.
So the Brethren hold a trial where they get all these people to testify against him, including Jack Sparrow, Esmeralda, and Ragetti.  But they're still not so sure.  So Pirate Lords turn to their last resort: Davy Jones.  Mistress Ching: "The first Brethren Court made the alliance with Captain Jones, and that right has been passed down through the ages, to the assembled Pirate Lords.  I was present when Jones was summoned, many years ago.  It is not something we should do lightly.  Does this situation warrant a summoning?"  Don Ragael: "I believe it does.  These rogue pirates threaten our freedom, our way of life.  They have brasenly defied the Code.  We must act."  And act they do.  All the Brethren, including some other pirates like Jack and Esmeralda, regroup on Captain Teague's, Keeper of the Code, ship, the Troubadour.  The four Pirate Lords gather around and speak in unison these magical words: "Davy Jones . . . we, the Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court, call you.  By our alliance giving us power over the sea, binding the queen in her bones, we entreat you.  Come to us, Davy Jones.  We summon you.  We summon you.  We summon you."
Did anyone else pick up on there reference to Tia Dalma?  Of course, at this point Jack does know that the first Brethren Court bound the queen of the sea, Calypso, Davy Jones' long lost love into an obeah women named Tia Dalma.  But since they did this very kind deed for Jones, that causes so many problems later to come,  they are allowed to call up on Davy Jones.  Although, they try to avoid doing that becasue when he shows up, it pretty much freaks everyone out, including Esmeralda.  So Jack puts his arm around her as comfort.  How sweet :D But Davy Jones is a moster, how unsweet.  He has claws on his right leg and left arm insstead of a hand and foot, and tentacles on his other arm.  Ew.  And don't even get me started on that awful stuff on his face.  While everyone is either speechless or passed out from the awful creature in the midst, Teague takes control.
Teague: "Thank you for honoring our summons, Captain Jones.  We the PIrate Lords face possible treason in our numbers.   You are lord of the sea, so we know you will be able to tell us wheter this man, Borya Palanchnik, has been committing wanton slaughter on the seas . . . sending you many souls."  Jones creepily goes over to Borya and his tenacles extend towards his face.  Gross.  That would be enough to make me just confess right there.  But he doesn't need to.  Jones: "Yes.  He is the one.  He has sent me many dead for more than a year now.  He commands others.  There are seven captains under his command, and they all send me souls.  Mercy is something they know not.  Their ships bring only death."  So now that Davy Jones' work is done, he's about to leave.  But Jack, who gets a nice view of Jones' back side ( the lovely hood of a squid bulging from beneath the hat, decides to ask him one more question.  Jack: "Excuse me, um, Captain Jones.  What about the brass bow chaser?  What did Borya do with it?"  It was his brass bow chaser that lead Jack find out that Borya was the infamous pirate after all.  But out of desperation, Borya had some how made it disappear, causing lots of confusion among the Court.
Jones then takes one good look through Jack's eyes, something we know won't be the be the last time.  Jones: "Who are you?"  An awesome pirate who's going to cause you a heck of a lot of trouble in the future.  Jack: "I'm Jack Sparrow.  I was-am-a witness in this matter.  Captain Jones, you know what happened to taht cannon, I'm sure, because you know everything that happens in your domain."  Jones: "You are correct, young Sparrow.  Captain Palachnik's brass bow chaser now lies at the bottom of Shipwreck cove."  So Borya just frantically threw the thing into he ocean.  Jones then reveals that Christophe is another rogue in Shipwreck City.  After all that trouble is done, Jones disappears again.  And that's the last Jack seas of him until he and Jones strike up that deal for the Black Pearl that becomes quite a big deal in the later times to come!

"Funny old world, isn't it?"

So I'm not sure if you read a post of ours a while back that was all about apples.  Well prepare yourself!  Because we have come upon another scene in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl what involves more apples! Nom nom nom nom nom.  Crunch!  We find our dear Captain Jack Sparrow in his used-to-be cabin (that is not longer painted periwinkle) chitchatting with his dear frenemy Hector Barbossa.  Unfortunately, the cabin and all of the Black Pearl is still under Barbossa's control.  But that's what Jack here is trying to change.  Jack wants Barbossa to give him the Black Pearl, in exchange that Jack tells Barbossa who the son of William Turner is.  Of course, the son of William Turner is William Turner, which to me, is kinda obvious.  But clearly Barbossa hasn't put two and two together and needs Jack's help.  So then Jack leaves Barbossa and his cursed crew off some where without a boat to find Will and lift their awful curse.  Barbossa doesn't exactly like this plan.
Barbossa: "So you expect to leave me on some beach with nothing but a name and your word that it's the one I need and watch you sail away on my ship?"  Pirates are so stuborn!  Jack, of course, doesn't exactly see it that way.  Jack: "No.  I expect to leave you on some beach with absolutely no name at all, watching me sail away on MY ship, and then I'll shout the name back to you.  Savvy?"
Sounds like a plan to me.  Barbossa: "That still leaves the problem of me on some beach with naught but a name and your word it's the one I need."  This is when Jack  begins to examine the red and green apples sitting on the table between him and Barbossa.  Jack: "Of the two of us, I am the only one who hasn't committed mutiny.  (Not for long!)  Therefore, my word is the one we'll be trusting."  Good point.  I'm not so sure how much I'd trust the man who left me on an island with nothing but a way to kill myself.  But then Jack has a revelation: "Although, I suppose I should be thanking you, becasue, in fact, if you hadn't betrayed me and left me to die, I would have an equal share in that curse, same as you.  Funny old world, isn't it?"  Jack then takes a nice bite into a green apple, which we all know Barbossa is dying to taste.
Barbossa, on the other hand, doesn't quite find this so funny.  But it's okay because Jack then offers Barbossa an apple!  Oh wait . . .  The Bo'sun then comes in with news: "Captain.  We're coming up on the Interceptor."  Barbossa needs to catch the Interceptor because that's where his last peice of cursed gold is.  But Barbossa doesn't know that the blood he needs is also on that ship.  Imagine Barbossa standing all alone on an island like Jack wanted, and then finding out that he really could have had the heir all along if he only realized that Bootstrap Bill had named his son after himself sooner.  Like Jack said, funny old world.  But Jack just doesn't give up.
He, Barbossa, and his apple, climb up onto the quarter deck when Jack sees that the Black Pearl is just as fast as she used to be and has caughten up with the other ship.  Barbossa is spying on the ship, when Jack comes up with a plan and sticks his head right into Barbossa's spyglass, giving Barbossa a nice view of his uvula.  Jack: "I'm having a thought here, Barbossa."  Barbossa grudgingly lowers his spyglass.
Jack: "What say we run up a flag of truce, I scurry over to the Interceptor, and I negotiate the return of your medallion?  Aye?  What say you to that?"  Barbossa: "I say that's the attitude that lost you the Pearl.  People are easier to searchw hen they're dead.  Lock him in the brig."  Um, that's a nice attitude.  Barbossa thinks Jack wants to hop on board the Interceptor so that nobody has to die and they can get the medallion and all live hapily ever after.  But in reality, Jack wants to get his butt onto the other ship so he can somehow find a way to get Will onto his side and get rid his ship of Barbossa.
But instead Jack gets the brig, and Barbossa gets the apple.  Barbossa just stares at the apple before chucking it over the railing and into the sea. Don't blame the apple for your greed, man.  So down below deck, the Bo'sun shoves Jack behind the bars.  But the ground is kinda wet.  Jack: "Apparently, there's a leak."  You gotta love Jack's attitude!
