As if running a blog about the The Pirates of the Caribbean weren't nerdy enough, I now listen to the sound track music! It's actually loads of fun! Play it anywhere you go and you feel like you are actually in the movies. Right now, I only have the soundtracks to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and At Worlds End. I have listened to the whole album thuroughly and I will get the other two albums, or at least some of the songs soon. The first sound track has fifteen songs, some of which are as short as a minute and half or up to almost five minutes. The At Worlds End soundtrack has more of a variety. While it's only thirteen songs, the shortest is a minute and a half and the longest is almost eleven minutes! And yes, I have to admit I've listened to them all. DOn't judge until you've actually listened to them, because they are really cool! So you should really buy them.
I don't know how many of you actually buy your songs legally off iTunes or wherever like I do, but if you are a punk and dowload them illgally, you should really make an excpetion for this. This stuff is really worth paying money for. Plus, wouldn't you agree the people who make the Pirates of the Caribbean deserve it? Just buy the whole album and you'll save money like I did! Now, since I haven't listened to all of the music just yet, it would be rather dificult for me to tell you which songs are my favorite. So an official favorite list will be posted later, but in the mean time I'll share with you which songs have stood out to me. The cool thing about the soundtracks is that you hear certain parts and you can just totally tell where in the movie it comes from. When you've seen the movies as many times as I have (which is doubtful unless you run a blog too, in which case you should totally share about with me), you can almost quote the scene!
For example, the first song of the first soundtrack is called "Fog Bound". There is a part where you can totally just imagine Elizabeth looking through the fog and seeing the Black Pearl and finding Will's body. Also, the next song, "The Medallion Calls" which I am actually listening to right now, there is a certain part where you just know that the gret Captain Jack Sparrow is sailing triumphantly in his little row boat. The music is so magnetic and admittedly epic because it just sounds like Jack! Then the tone completely shifts to a solemn yet honorable tone when Jack sails by the hanged pirates and lowers his hat in honor. Don't beleive me? Then listen for it yourself. Also, throughout the soundtrack you hear the super dramatic music that is usually played during some dramatic scene between Will and Elizabeth. There is also the super classic just epically awesome music that plays during the credits. It's kind of like the theme song. If you were to recongize any of the music, it would be this one. It's called "He's A Pirate". It is one of my favorite just because it is so energetic and happy. Whenever I hear it I think of all of Jack's totally epic sword fights. Okay, now we are jumping to the third movie soundtrack.
It's not that I didn't like the second, but the msuic didn't strike me as as epic as the first and third. It's starts out with "Hoist the Colors". If you weren't aware, that's the name of the song that the prisoners who are about to be executed sing in the very opening song. It starts out with the little kid singing and then they all join in until they hang. It's a bit creepy because it actually has words. The little kid on death row is singing, and you here the rattling of their chains. Pretty intense. Then there is "Singapore", which doens't have any words, but you can still just tell right away that they are in Singapore (even if you didn't read the name of the song). I actually like this soundtrack more than the first. If you've read some of my other posts regrading the Parlay scene later in the movie, you'd know about what I think of the music that plays when Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Beckett, Jones, and Barbossa all walk along the side bank: It's like rock music! That's in the song "Parlay", which cracks me up every time. Two songs later is "What Shall We Die For" is my all time favorite. It's during the time when Elizabeth presents her speech to the Brethren Court and they all join together. It is actually so epic. You can hear all the pirates cheering in unison and you just know that they are going to kill it. I must admit, certain parts give me chills, that's how nerdy I am. The song after it is also pretty epic, "I Don't Think Now's the Best Time". It's while they are fighting my favorite battle! Now go buy the soundtracks if you haven't already and report back to here with your opinions? Am I a nerd? Am I correct? Am I both?
I just realized that we haven't had a favorite list in such a long time! So I decided that tonight was the night! I thought I'd do one to accompany our most recent poll, asking you which characters you would like to see returning in the fifth and probably final installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Now, in the past I many have said it was set to come out on July 15, 2015, but actually it's July 10, 2015, meaning it's five days closer than I expected! I absolutely cannot wait for its release. That's only 845 days away! So who do you want to see once again on the big screen? Well, besides Captain Jack Sparrow, because no really pirates fan would ever want to see him leave.
5) Philip Swift
While I'm not a big fan of him, I am hoping to see his return in 2015. In the mean time I'll be watching him in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in which Sam Clafin will play Finick Odair! YAYAY! But as far as his character goes in this series, I think it could use a bit more development, which I'm hoping to see in the next movie. I want to really see him fight. I think he was in a bit of battle during the Battle for the Fountain of Youth, but he got injured pretty quickly o he ran back to his love. I'm really hoping to see some more action come from him. Perhaps he can permanently join Jack's crew and become a true pirate. He would make a nice moral compass for them. As for his counter part, Syrena, I'm less excited to see her in. Perhaps their love can die and he can find someone better.
4) Angelica
I really would like to know if she ever gets off that island. Hopefully she didn't die there. I really also wonder if she and Jack will ever actually kiss. They do seem to have some deep history, and we all know that unfortunately, Jack actually did have feelings for her. Those feelings probably haven't entirely disappeared so there could be more drama in the next movie. Not to mention she makes a pretty good partner for Jack in battle. They could kick some serious butt together. At the very end of the last movie, she also has Jack's voodoo doll with her on the island. If you didn't know that you should really know better than to just leave before the end of the credits of a movie likes this. Now you'll have to watch it again, and this time actually watch it all, which shouldn't be too much of a chore. I also want to know what Angelica is really like without having to kiss up to her daddy, Blackbeard. Now he's dead so she can go on her own crazy rampages. She won't have the Queen Anne's Revenge either though since Barbossa took that. Gee, I wonder if that's what will happen next movie. I'm sure she'll want it back to avenge her father.
3) Pintel and Ragetti
I know that technically they are two different people but really they are a set to me since they are always together and one without the other really just wouldn't be the same. Plus, it's not like I could list one over the other. They are so stupidly hilarious that neither one is more so than the other. The way they are always bickering is classic. And you can't really bicker with yourself can you? Well, maybe that's not true because even I find myself talking to myself sometimes. It's rather embarrassing. I really missed this pair in the last movie. However, hopefully now that Jack has the Pearl back, he can get them out of the bottle and they can all set sail together again! I wouldn't be surprised if that is a big part of the plot of the next movie.
2) Hector Barbossa
He's been in all of the movies, while very little in Dead Man's Chest and this next one should really be no different. He and Jack are a bit like Pintel and Ragetti: always at odds with each other yet sometimes they do have to work together to achieve a common goal. This movie, however, he should have his monkey back. It just wasn't the same without it in the last movie. His crazy pirate talk is hilarious because usually you don't have the slightest clue what he is even talking about. He is also so rude the his crew, always yelling insults at them. Imagine if you used this kind of language towards the people you were mad at. Like, if you teacher gives you three hours of math homework and you scream, "YOU BLOOMING COCKROACH!" Think of how people would respond to that!
1) Joshamee Gibbs
I didn't list him as an potion on the poll because I thought, "Who wouldn't want Gibbs back?" Am I right? If you think I'm wrong, feel free to let me know by commenting, (but please do not spam us). He's been Jack's loyal first mate in all of the past movies and this one should really be no exception! He seems to get Jack on a level that perhaps no one else can (well, except me of course :P). They are always sharing a good laugh, or a drink! He's also pretty darn good at explaining things throughout the series, like how Jack was captain of the Pearl and marooned, or the dangers of the Kraken, or how Jack has an impostor. Who would know anything with out him? Hopefully, the actor is asked and signs on again for a fifth movie because we desperately need him to come back!
Though I love the Pirates of the Caribbean there are some people who I really don't like. You can probably guess a few people on this list right now but there are also a few here that you might be surprised about. Here are a few of my least favorite people.
Weatherby Swann
This guy is one of the first people we ever get to see. He is sailing to the Caribbean from England in order to become the Governor of Port Royal. This is a pretty big deal because Port Royal is the Largest British settlement in the Caribbean. His daughter, Elizabeth, also comes to Port Royal. There she attracts the attention of Captain James Norrington. Weatherby seems to really want Elizabeth and James to get married because the day James proposes and Lizzy doesn't answer immediately he talks to the captain and convinces him she will wants to marry him. Of course as they are talking they are attacked by the Black Pearl, which ends their conversation. Later in the movie Elizabeth accepts the proposal in order to save Will who is at the Isla de Muerta. Once they reach the island Jack convinces them to lock Elizabeth in a cabin so she will stay safe. While there Governor Swann talks to her through the door. He declares a confusing statement that bores even Elizabeth, who climbs out of the Dauntless. At the very end of the movie when Elizabeth and Will proclaim they're love for each other and are having a romantic moment he asks them if that was their decision. No, they just went through all that because they don't want to be together. I mean James, who was in love with her in the first place and had been promised her heart, is okay with it but the Governor is not isn't. Some people, you know!
Happy last day of the year! This past year has been great for our blog! We've received more views and comments as the year continues. This next year, we'll try to post for consistently and hopefully you will try to spread the word of our website! Now, we would like to make his post all about the antagonists of the series. Hopefully their New Years Resolutions will help Jack have an easier time dealing with them because they are sorry. However not all of the villains are equally liked by me. These are my top five favorite.
5) Blackbeard
Also known as Edward Teach, Blackbeard is pretty evil but he's not a very interesting villain. He's captain of the Queen Anne's Revenge but truly doesn't do very much. In fact, his crew doesn't even think he exists for a while. Angelica, his daughter and first mate, runs most of the business on the ship. And then we find out that he actually is a character with a pretty epic sword. So he kills some people and insists Jack takes him to the Fountain of Youth. Things really get interesting when we learn Blackbeard has shrunk and bottled the Black Pearl. It's no surprise that Jack is ready to do anything to gain back his ship, and that annoying monkey. So now it's up to Jack to defeat Blackbeard and get back the Pearl.
4)Ian Mercer
This fellow has been in two movies and the Price Of Freedom. He is describes by A.C. Crisp in as a man who could kill a man with out hesitation. Wonderful I know. He is Scottish and heavily accented. He works as a "operative" for Cutler Beckett. This job eventually gets him killed. Killed by another person on this list. A very gross death including tentacles getting stuck up his nose,mouth, and eyes. 3)Davy Jones
I told you Mercer's killer was on this list too! And here he is. Like Mercer, Davy Jones for a while had to do what Cutler Beckett told him to, including tracking down the pirates at Shipwreck Cove and attacking them. It's during this attack that Davy Jones decides that he's tired of Cutler Beckett telling him what to do. So he disgustingly killed Mercer and tries to track down his heart. Beckett does eventually fail, but so does Jones when Will Turner stabs his heart sending him to his watery grave.
2) Hector Barbossa
Barbossa switches off throughout the series between being a helping and harming the protagonist (Jack). However, during the first movie he is definitely a villain. First of all, he pretty much took over Jack's beloved ship, which is never appreciated. He also wants to kill Jack, Elizabeth, Will, and Norrington, and pretty much everybody else. He's not even very nice to his own crew members. To see if the curse in them is lifted, Barbossa shoots Pintel to see if he dies. But I love how Barbossa seems just to ramble on and on in his super piratey talk. He's one of the funniest characters and the only reason he's not on the first on this list is because he's not a villain all the time. Speaking of which, let's continue on to first place.
1) Cutler BeckettI hope by this point you've taken my advice and read The Price of Freedom, because Beckett's childhood history is shared in the book. He's also a total jerk in the book. He brands Jack with the 'P' on his wrist and then tries to take down the Wicked Wench, even though it's his own ship! Then, during Dead Man's Chest, he poses a menacing threat on Jack, Will, and Elizabeth. This threat continues into the second movie as he desperately tries to completely strike pirates off the face of the earth. You can tell that he's not a big fan of pirates, making him the ultimate villain during the series.
Since the holidays are upon us, I thought it would be cool to share some tales of love and family. With mistletoe in the air, I think now is an appropriate time to discuss our latest post, in which we asked you who your favorite PotC couple is? We are now going to answer our own question for you and hopefully you will respond by voting before the poll is closed!
4. Davy Jones and Tia Dalma/Calypso
Will Turner: "You loved her. She's the one. And then you betrayed her."Davy Jones: "She pretended to love me. She betrayed me." Will: "And after which betrayal did you cut out your heart, I wonder." Davy and Tia Dalma's story is one full of betrayal and heartache. When Davy Jones was normal sailor he fell in love with the sea Goddess Calypso. She gave him the task of ferrying the souls of sailors lost at sea from this world to the next. He had to remain at sea for ten years before he could step foot on land to reunite with his love. When his ten years was up he returned only to find Calypso long gone. His anger was so great that he helped the first Brethren Court to capture Calypso and trap her in a human form. After this their love was pretty much over, and Davy took his ship the Flying Dutchmen that Calypso had given him to preform his duty and used it to build a crew of sailors bound for 100 years of service on his ship. Calypso obviously was not pleased with Davy's actions and when they eventually reunited nothing polite was said. In the end Davy was never able to forgive Calypso and died with a broken heart. Tia Dalma was eventually released by the Brethren Court, and helped the Court in their battle against the EITC.
3. Philip Swift and Syrena
Blackbeard: "You care for her...you fancy her. Do not deny what is clear to my eyes. Question is...does she fancy you? By God, she does." Philip, the missionary, and Syrena, the mermaid, also had a very complicated and unique relationship ship. Their both prisoners for different reasons of Blackbeard. Blackbeard, being the super evil and powerful pirate, decides to use their budding romance to his advantage. He needs to get a tear our of Syrena so he pretends to kill Philip. Philip finds himself passed out in a ditch and makes his way back to the love of his life, who is dying in a pool. He tells her how much he loves her, and then she starts to cry. Bingo. They take her tear and Philip, then leave her there to die. But P. Swift doesn't let go of relationships easily, so in the middle of combat later in the movie, he runs back, with a wound in his side, all the way to where she is almost dead. He unties her and begs for her forgiveness. They make up and start to kiss. She then drags him into the water where they will all live happily after ever. I wonder what their kids will be like? Probably no stranger than Jones' and Calypso's.
2. Will and Elizabeth
Weatherby: "So, this is the path you've chosen, is it? After all, he is a blacksmith." Elizabeth: "No. He's a pirate." Will and Elizabeth's romance has been one of the cutest to track because it spans over the first three movies. Will's always had a thing for Elizabeth since they met as kids. Elizabeth seems to have a slight interest in him too. However, people don't really realize what they have until it's gone. Once Elizabeth is taken off by pirates, he realizes how desperately he loves her and needs her back. Once they've been reunited, Will trades his blood for Elizabeth's safety. This reminds Elizabeth how much she needs Will in her life, so she goes through great measures to save him, even promising herself to Commodore Norrington. Once they are all safe, Will's feelings deepen when he finds out of Elizabeth's engagement to the officer. So once their back at Port Royal, Will can't keep his feelings in any longer so he tells Elizabeth how he really feels. Norrington understands and the two become engaged. Through the next movie and a half, they have a lot of issues in their relationship, but in the end they make it to the alter, kinda. It's more like the deck of a ship but it's romantic none the less.
1. Jack Sparrow and Angelica
Angelica: "I was ready to take my vows! And you—what were you doing in a Spanish convent, anyway?!" Jack: "Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake." Jack is a player lets face it. He met Angelica while he was drunk. And things got a bit frisky. In the morning Angelica was on a boat bound for who knows where and Jack was still drunk. They reunited when Angelica began her journey to the Fountain of Youth. She needed Jack help to save her "father's" life, but she feared Jack wouldn't come willingly so after escaping the band of soldeirs sent to arrest Jack she drugged him and set sail for the said fountain. Jack of course wasn't very pleased with Angelica but things smoothed out eventually after some heated arguments a plan was made. In the end Jack brought Angelica to the fountain but ended up killing her "father" and that pretty much ended the romance. Jack stranded her on an island and even after some lies about pregnancy he sailed off into the sunset leaving Angelica to fend for herself. Moral of this story: true love hurts, thank goodness for voodoo dolls.
Through out the Pirates of the Caribbean there have been lot's of creepy people/things. In this post I'm gonna list out the top 5 of them that I think are the creepiest.
5) The Kraken
I'm guessing you're all experts on this mythilogical creature thanks to my previous posts, but now I'm going to talk about it again and emphasize it's grossness and creepiness. The kraken is actually quite frightening because it does as Davy Jones commands no matter what. And of course Jones doesn't exactly order it to get him some tea and crumpets. It eventually washed up on an island dead. That's when Pintel and Ragetti make planes on selling chunks of to people as souvonirs. Mean while Jack and Barbossa have an intense conversation right in front of the beasties eyeball.
4) King George II
This one probably is a surprise to you but, quite frankly, this guy really creeps me out. I mean I love British people and this guy is British but that face is just hideous. And then you have to put a huge fluffy wig on it. Of course that's not enough to be creepier then the Kraken is it? It is because he also makes Barbossa's hideous face have a wig on it as well. I still have nightmares.
3) The Heart of Davy Jones
Okay you know I had put this on my list. I mean It's a heart. And not just any ones heart, but the a squid faced maniac's heart. This bloody organ goes through a lot. It's cut out placed in chest for a few years, picked up again and put in a jar of dirt. But then James Norrington decides to stuff it in a sack and bring it to Port Royal where it is then taken aboard the Flying Dutchman. There it surrounded by people pointing guns at it until finally Jack Sparrow comes in helps Will stab it, which by the way made goo squeeze out of it. But really tells me the heart is creepy is that Ragetti of people wonders if it's really true.
2) Tia Dalma
Yes, she is one of my favorite characters but you gotta admit that she can be very creepy. She randomly gives people the weirdest facest, like when Will pays her a visit for the first time. Also she got horible gramar. And when she turns into Calypso again she yelled very loudly then burst into a bunch of crabs. Who does that??? But at least she ended up helping the Brethren Court.
1)Elizabeth Swann
Wow this one is a whole lot of weird. If you've seen many of my posts you'll know I have a very nice collection of ugly Elizabeth picture. I also enjoy making fun of her. She get's really hyped up sometimes. Very judgemental. She hated pirates all her life then ends up being King of them. Gotta say that was not one Jack's better moves. She also kissed about every boy in the films. Don't get me started on the fact that she KILLED CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW.
Feeling in the Thanksigiving mood still, I'd like you to all know that I am so thankful for the awesome Pirates of the Caribbean series. Whosever idea it was to transform the intense ride into four epic movies deserves a round of aplause! All four movies are great, but I must admit that some of them I like more than others. So here's my listing on which are my favorites. Please comment and let us know if you agree or disagree and what your preferences are!
4) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
While this movie was the only one so far I was able to see in theatres (went opening day!), I don't think it quite surpassed any of the movies in the trilogy before it. While I liked Angelica's pessimistic mood and the strange love going on between her and Jack, I wished they had brought back some of the old characters. For example, I missed Jack's crew, like the good old silly pirates that we love to post about. Also, I wasn't really a big fan of Philip and Syrena. If they wanted to have a complicated love story a long with Jack and Angelica's, then they should have stuck with Will and Elizabeth. I'm wondering how they are handeling their long distance relationship. That being said, I did like the super creepy mermaids. I mean, what could be better than deceiving maniupulative yet beautiful sea creatures who drown and eat men? Not much. They were quite the obstacle to face and I loved watching them do so. Oh, and Blackbeard and his Sword of Triton was pretty epic. It takes a lot to get through all that, but of course Jack and Barbossa mange it. So, it's not that I don't like the movie, It's just not my favorite.
3) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I feel bad listing the movies, becasue I like them so much. But some must rise above the others. Dead Man's Chest is a pretty dark and evil movie. It starts out with a rained out and ruined wedding, and ends witht the couple falling apart of the death of a hero. The second scene opens with the wicked torturing of sailors at a Turkish prison. The super sad aroma is about the only critisism I can make though. I love the scene when the crew ends up on the island of the Pelogostals. The scene with the stupid sailors who are being tricked by Elizabeth always makes me laugh. Not to mention I love the additon of Tia Dalma, the crazy Obeah woman. She's one of my favorite characters of the movie and she really freaks out Pintel and Ragetti. Davy Jones and Lord Cutler Beckett both become enemies to the pirates, both being equally as evil and scary. Of course, both in their own way. Jones has a bunch of creepy tentacles coming off his face and a beating heart in a chest, but Beckett is about four feet tall with a deathly glare. Two antagonists in one movie so epic!
2) Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
This movie is just so cool. Of course, it starts out kinda dark again with Lord Cutler Beckett executing a bunch of innocent people in Port Royal, probably Will and Elizabeth's neighbors, including a poor little boy. But this boy starts singing and then everyone else continues singing, "Hoist the Colors", the pirate anthem. And someone goes over and tells Beckett about all the singing, and all Beckett says is: "Finally." Yeah, I wasn't really sure why he was waiting for his prisoners to sing, but I later found out that when "Hoist the Colors" begins to be sung, it means that the Brethren Court is going to meet. This meeting is the premesis of the whole movie, which is kinda what makes it so awesome. All the pirates in the world joining together against two equally menacingly creepy vilians. Um, whoah there. This is just too awesome. But first you have the hillarious scene between all the bickering pirates before you get to all the fighting. And in the midst of all the action you even get a little bit of romance. I'm serious, this movie has it all.
4) Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
The first movie ever really was my favorite. It got the ball moving for all the next movies. It's when you're first introduced to all the characters, and all the locations, including Tortuga! It starts off with little Will and Elizabeth, when they first meet. Elizabeth is sailing across the Atlantic when she catches a glimpse at the Black Pearl sailing away after destroying a ship. One person was able to survive this raid: William Turner Jr. Elizabeth takes care of him after he is rescued until they reach Port Royal. Elizabeth finds a medallion on him while he is unconscious, and keeps it from him. This little peace of gold is the main object of the whole movie. To be honest, I think all the characters were the best in this movie: Jack was the funniest, Will and Elizabeth were the cutest, and Barbossa was a great villain. The fact that Jack was always switching sides added to the awesomeness of the movie because the audience was never sure what was going through his mind. Then again, we can never be sure, but we love Jack all the same!
If you look on your calenders you will see that in a week it will be Halloween. So i thought it would be fun to do a post about my favorite disguises/costumes that have been used by Jack and other characters throughout the series.
4. Elizabeth Disguised as a Man.
Elizabeth Swann must really dislike her corset! She has disguised her self as a man to gain access on two different ships. First she stowed away on a Scottish merchant vessel after her fight with Cutler Beckett. She gave the crew quite a scare when she hung her dress out on the ropes; they thought a ghost had surely taken up residence on their boat. When she then lit some gunpowder on fire, the fire spelled out the word Tortuga. They must has gotten the message because we next spot her in her disguise trying to trick Jack and gain passage on his ship, Jack: "Come to join me crew, lad? Welcome aboard." Elizabeth: "I'm here to find the man I love." Jack: "I'm deeply flattered, son, but my first and only love is the sea." Well that settles that, Miss Swann. Jack does let her join his crew however, but only because he needs her to find Will, and eventually the heart of Davy Jones.
3. Angelica Disguised as Jack Sparrow.
After Jack made his hasty escape from King George's dining room, He stumbled into his a bar called the Captain's Daughter. He had a nice chat with his Captain Teague (his father) who had just recently saved his life. It had been brought to Jack's attention that he was being impersonated, lucky for Jack his impersonator was at the Captain's Daughter as well. Jack went over to the pirate who he had been told knew where the impersonator was, and was directed to a back room. Upon arrival Jack found his a shorter version of himself awaiting him, They pair quickly engaged in a heated duel around the room but eventually Jack corralled his imposter (who identity he had discovered) against a post and being the ladies man that he was he kissed her. Jack: "Only one person alive knows that move [kisses the Jack impostor]...Always wanted to do that. Hello, Angelica."Angelica: "Hello, Jack. Are you impressed? I think I almost killed you once or twice there." Jack: "I am touched at this most sincerest form of flattery. But why?" In a strange turn of events Jack imposter just happened to be a friend from earlier in life. Angelica told Jack about her poor father's plight, but the room was quickly invaded by redcoats, they fought them off rather well. And eventually escaped through a trap door which led to the river Thames. When they reached shore one of Angelica's crewman shot Jack with a poisoned dart and he was hauled off and press-ganged onto the ship Queen Anne's Revenge.
2.Jack's Impersonation of Justice Smith.
Did you know our beloved pirate had a brief stint in the field of law? Well however brief it was he did it in style! Rocking a huge wig and dyed beard Jack presided over the hearing of his ever faithful first mate Joshamee Gibbs. Jack: "Now...what do we have here?"Gibbs; "Jack?" [The Jailor hits Gibbs with a club] Jack: "Not necessary! You were saying?"Gibbs: "Jack...Sparrow is not my name. My name is Joshamee Gibbs."Jack: "Is that so? It says Jack Sparrow here."Gibbs: "I told 'em, I'm not Jack Sparrow, who I would be happy to identify to the court, if it would help my case."Jack: "I think that it would be a poor defense, unless you want to be bludgeoned again like a harp seal." Jack found a tricky way to sentence Gibbs, so that e could avoid the death penalty. He reunited with Gibbs on the prisoner transport wagon, Jack thought he had paid the driver enough to get them to their destination, but apparently the King paid him more. When Jack got out of the veihicle he was immediately captured and taken away for his a fore mentioned meeting with the King.
1. Pintel and Ragetti Disguised as Damsels in Distress.
Sometimes its tough to be a pirate. For Pintel and Ragetti this was on of those times. While the rest of their fellow crew mates got to go gallivanting under the water on their way to a fight, they had to dress as woman and distract the Navy men from a small sail boat. The plan didn't exactly work however; while Pintel and Ragetti were arguing their boat drifted into the moonlight and the Navy men saw what they really were, not just men mind you but cursed men. When the light struck them they turned to skeletons. And not very attractive ones at that.

4) The Kraken
I have a few problems with Davy Jones disgusting sea pet. First of all, he ate Captain Jack Sparrow, which would obviously annoy any sensible person. I mean, I know Jack is awesome and all, but please don't devour him. Although, it is pretty cool how the Kraken can eat a whole ship without even coming above the water. But not so cool for the sailors, I suppose. The jokes on the Kraken though, because in the end, Jack survives, as does the Pearl and its the awful sea monster that ends up laying dead and decaying on a beach while Pintel and Ragetti make plans to serve him up as a Souviner
3) Cotton's Parrot
Cotton joins Jack Sparrow's crew at the beginning of The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl when Gibbs rounds up a crew for Jack and sticks around though the next three movies, always remaining loyal to Jack. At least, we think so because he's never said otherwise. Of course, that's because he doesn't have a tongue (got it chopped out for leaking a secret round Tortuga). But instead of using sign language, he trains his parrot to talk for him. So when Jack asks Cotton to join his crew, he has to assume that "Wind in the sails" translates to "yes". He says a lot of other pirate-y phrases like "Dead men tell no tales" and "walk the plank". I totally would love to have a pirate parrot.
2) Prison Dog
It seems like every young adventerous boy grows up with a loving dog! Well, Jack Sparrow is no exception. Raised by the Keeper of the Code, Jack grew pretty fond of the scruffy dog who kept track of the keys. But this dog seems to make quite a few appearances outside of Jack's childhood. He's the prison dog at Fort Charles Prison in Port Royal, Jamaica, where Jack runs into him again and calls him some very not nice things. But then Pintel and Ragetti bust out of that jail with the help of the dog and take him to the Isla de Pelegostos. The canibals there decide the dog is a god (maybe because the two words are eachother backwards!), so they start to worship him. Just when we think we've seen the last of him, he returns back to his original home! He's at Shipwreck Cove, guarding the keys of the Pirate Code for Captain Teague again. This is just mind boggling to the silly pirates (then again, so is everything else). So is it just the same dog, over and over again who is just transported around the world by sea turtles or is it just that all pirates love a dog like him? The world will never know . . .
1) Jack the Monkey
I don't mean to be insulting to our lovely Captain Jack Sparrow, but I do love this little undead monkey. Actually, I more love how much everybody hates him. He pretty much runs around the deck doing Barbossa's will in the first movie. But once Barbossa is dead, Jack the monkey is free to roam the Pearl being an abnoxious little pest. Jack however, loves to shoot the undead monkey, which has got to be fun. They decide to get rid of him by locking him in a cage and giving him to Tia Dalma. But of course, she just lets him out the second she gets him. Just a little counterproductive. And then Hector Barbossa comes back to life and he and his precious little monkey sidekick make more trouble for Jack and the crew. But wait, there's more! That little monkey finally gets what he deserves when Blackbeard shrinks the little pest into a bottle, where his is trapped until Gibbs and Jack can find a goat. Hmmm, hopefully there will be another pet in the next movie! Baaaaaaaa!

But I was thinking, we have all of these quotes throughout the blog, but we haven't really told you which are our favorites. So here comes the answer!
10) "Stop blowing holes in my ship!"
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Does anyone else find it a little ironic that Jack is in the brig of his own ship as his own crew attacks his beloved ship? Or is that just me? Because he wants to defeat Barbossa but it's hard to do that without damaging the ship Barbossa's on.
9) "Seaweed can be a sign." "Looks like entrails." "That would be a bad sign."
-crazy sailors on board Edinburgh Trader in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Elizabeth sure throws these sailors into a tizzy when she becomes a stow away on their ship. She then tries to send them signs with the illusion that her dress if floating. They then try to frantically figure out what she's trying to say.
8) "The Santiago. Famously captained by Ponce de León. Hm. No one there. Right, then."
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Jack is going on and on with all the facts he knows abou the Santiago as he aproaches it to find the chalices. He turns around to adress his audience, and then realizes that there is none. Awkward. But then again, we are his ever loyal audience and we do indeed love to hear his words of wisdom!
7) "That is without doubt the worst pirate I have ever seen."
-James Norrington in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Norrington thinks Jack isn't a very good pirate, but in reality, Jack's just good at thinking on his feet! He's always got a trick up his sleeve, that most people don't even understand. And the funny part of this scene is that two minutes later, Theodore Groves, who works for the Royal Navy under Commodore Norrington's command, declares: "That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen!" How ironic. Of course, Norrington isn't too please with this.
6) "Cuttlefish eh? Let us not dear friends forget our dear friends the cuttlefish. Glorious little sausages."
- Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Your probably wondering what on earth this means. Or your wondering if Jack has a creepy obsesion over cuttlefish. The answer to the second is no. the answer to the first is that Jack is trying to convince the Pirate Lords that if they stay in Shipwreck cove they will destroy themselves. So of course he uses the glorious little sausages, a.k.a cuttle fish, as an example.
5) "Risky thing, helping slaves escape. If you'll recall, slave hunters have large, fierce dogs, and they carry pistols. The slave hunters, not the dogs."
-Jack Sparrow in The Price of Freedom. Okay, I'm not going to lie: this quote cracks me up every time. Jack is agreeing to help Beckett convince his slave to run away with him. And run away slaves are not taken likely for this time period, so Jack makes the point that he'd be really stepping out on a limb by taken Ayisha. But, as usual, Captain Jack Sparrow throws in his lovely sense of humor to seal the deal!
4) "Gentlemen, m'lady; you will always remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow."
-Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. This is one of Jack's favorite catch phrases. He loves to pull it out as he escapes his enemies once again, but unfortunately he doesn't always have time. Sometimes he gets hit with a wave, other times he falls of a cliff.
3) "Lots of rum, lots of women. That's Jack for you."
-Esmeralda Maria Consuela Anna de Sevilla in the Price of Freedom. Esmeralda is explaining to Princess Amenirdis that Jack is quite the character. He's a great pirate and has a brilliant personality, but she shouldn't be fooled, because Jack's as crazy and wild as the sea he loves so dearly. And let's not even get started on the rum!
2) "Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow, savvy?"
-Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. We all know Jack is awesome. Will knows Jack is awesome. Gibbs knows Jack is awesome. Elizabeth knows Jack is awesome. Does Jack know he's awesome? Honestly I wasn't really sure until he says this line to the Royal Navy letting us all know he knows that everyone knows that he is awesome. Do you think I sounded like Jack there?
1) "Why is the rum always gone?"
-Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Deadman's Chest. So we all know that Jack loves rum. And we all know what he does when there's rum in the same room as him. HE DRINKS IT. But what happens when there isn't anymore rum in the room with Jack? I think the answer to that is as follows. He goes and finds the nearest rum possible. So in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest that is what Jack does while sitting around onboard the Black Pearl. But of course the simple act of finding rum must be exciting so to find the rum Jack goes down to the creepy, dark cellar, and you'll never guess who he meets. . .
I know that this favorite list is a little different than many of our previous ones in that it isn't accompanied by a poll. But nonetheless we still would love to hear your favorite PotC quote! So please comment and let us know!
For example, the first song of the first soundtrack is called "Fog Bound". There is a part where you can totally just imagine Elizabeth looking through the fog and seeing the Black Pearl and finding Will's body. Also, the next song, "The Medallion Calls" which I am actually listening to right now, there is a certain part where you just know that the gret Captain Jack Sparrow is sailing triumphantly in his little row boat. The music is so magnetic and admittedly epic because it just sounds like Jack! Then the tone completely shifts to a solemn yet honorable tone when Jack sails by the hanged pirates and lowers his hat in honor. Don't beleive me? Then listen for it yourself. Also, throughout the soundtrack you hear the super dramatic music that is usually played during some dramatic scene between Will and Elizabeth. There is also the super classic just epically awesome music that plays during the credits. It's kind of like the theme song. If you were to recongize any of the music, it would be this one. It's called "He's A Pirate". It is one of my favorite just because it is so energetic and happy. Whenever I hear it I think of all of Jack's totally epic sword fights. Okay, now we are jumping to the third movie soundtrack.
