"You Had It Easy, Boy"

When Will first arrives on Flying Dutchman in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, all the other crew members seem creepy, odd, and evil too him, not to mention the captain is just down right cruel (which is a matter of perspective;).  But there is more to it than that for one particular crew member.  We learned a bit about Will's father, William Turner Sr. or better known as Bootstrap Bill, back in the first movie when will discovers that he was the son of a pirate.  Bootstrap was part of the crew of the Black Pearl during their mutiny against Jack and when they stole the cursed Aztec gold.  But he was not in favor of their mutiny so he decides to curse the entire crew for it.  He takes a piece of gold and sends it to his son, Will.  Will as a child wears this around his neck as his one memory of his father. That is, until Elizabeth steals it and Jack helps lift the curse.
But Barbossa still deals with a lot of probelms because of the curse, so he throws Bootstrap into the bottom of the ocean FOREVER.  That's when Davy Jones comes in.   You see, the Flying Dutchman basically becomes a ship where all the souls who are afraid of hell work and for those who feel that their life offers nothing better.  Bootstrap can't die (becasue of the curse) and sitting at the bottom of the ocean with all the water pushing down on him did not seem like the ideal way to spend the rest of his life.  So Davy Jones comes on over and offers him a way out.  Bootstrap takes the offer. (nice going)
As we already know, Will finds himself on the boat thanks to our dear friend Jack Sparrow.  For a little while, Will is unsuspecting of his father serving along side him and Bootstrap too has no idea.  But a few complications arise when there are two William Turners walking around the deck.  The bosun orders: "Secure the mast tackle, Mr. Turner!  Step to it!"  Who he really means, I have no idea.  But both Will and Bootstrap think they are being addressed.  So they post leave their current positions to carry out the new task.  Bootstrap gets there first, but Will is suddenly angry that someone is doing his job.  Will: "Step aside."  Bootstrap does not understand what this new guy is doing.  Bootstrap: "Hey!  Mind yourself!  Let go, boy!"  Bootstrap then looks up to whoever the abnoxious boy that is disrupting his work is.  That's when it hits him.  Will on the other hand has no memory of this starfish dude, just looks at him crazily.  Probably thinking "why is this guy staring at me creepily?"  Bootstrap: "No!"
Out of shock and horror that his son has ended up on the same wretched ship as himself, Bootstrap lets go of the rope that is hodling up the cannon.  Will tires to save it but it's already falling and Will is pulled across the quarter deck by it.  It crashes onto the deck bellow, hits some of the other workers, and causes quite a disturbance.  Nobody is very happy about it.  And poor Will is blamed for it.  Bosun: "Haul that weevil to his feet!  Five lashes will remind you to stay on 'em!"  Stay on what?  Bootstap has other plans though.  He tries to black the whip.  Bootstrap: "No!"  Bosun: "Impeding me in my duties?  You'll share the punishment."  Bootstrap: "I'll take it all."  A selfless pirate?  Davy jones decides to stick his nose into the episode, or maybe I should say his tentacles.  Jones: "Will you, now?  And what would prompt such an act of charity."  Jones is a shocked by this kind gesture as I am.  Bootstrap just weakly stammers: "My son.  He's my son."
Jones and Bootstrap look towards Will.  Will turns and looks at his father.  Family reunion!  There's this super awkward yet sentimental.  Jones finds it funny and starts to laugh.  Jones: "What fortuitous circumstance be this?  Five lashes be owed i believe it is."  He then hands Bootstrap the whip.  That's not barbaric.  Bootstrap: "No. No, I won't!"  Jones: "That cat's out of the bag, Mr. Turner.  (Which one?)  You issue will feel its sting be it by the bosun's hand or your own."  How about no body gets hurt?  Bootstap: "No."  Davy Jones glares into Bootstrap's eyes: "Bosun!"  Bootstrap: "No!" (5 "no's" in 2 minutes. . . impressive).  Bootstrap takes the whip and examines it as intense music plays.  And then he whips Will.  It's a very joyful scene for Davy Jones who stands and watches contently.  What a creep.  Don't you have a heart?  Oh wait... No.  After the event, Will does not seem to have enjoyed his flogging very much.
They push him down onto the lower deck and Bosun screams: "You had it easy, boy!"  Bootstrap: "Will."  Will: "I don't need your help."  His voice is raspy suddenly.  Bootstrap: "The bosun prides himself on cleaving flesh from bone, with every swing."  So that's what he meant by having it easy.  Will: "So I'm to understand what you did was an act of compassion?"  Bootstrap: "Yes."  Well ok then.  I guess that's that.  What a dramatic family reunion.  Will recovers from his anger towards his father and eventually kills Davy Jones to set him free from service.  But all that is yet to come!

"Do We Have An Accord?"

Will Turner has this super brilliant plan to help Sao Feng capture Jack and Barbossa in return for the Black Pearl, which he believes will help him save his father.  Quite a betrayal, eh? So while Jack and Barbossa are off the ship getting supplies, he let's Sao Feng on board.  But things get even more complicated when the East India Trading Company decides to join the party also.  Sao Feng then reveals to Will that he has no intention on letting Will keep the ship.  Beckett then reveals to Sao Feng that he has no intention on letting Sao Feng keep the ship.  So they all must come upon an agreement.  Barbossa: "Shame they're not bound to honor the code of the Brethren, isn't it?  Because honor's a hard thing to come by nowadays."  Yes, it really is too bad that the Royal Navy is not as civilized as pirates are.  Sao Feng: "There is no honor or remaining with the losing side.  Leaving it for the winning side, that's just good business."
Don't steal lines.  Stealing a ship is one thing, don't steal catch phrases.  Barbossa: "The losing side, you say?"  Sao Feng: "They have the Dutchman.  Now the Pearl!  (You have no one to blame but yourself on that one) And what do the Brethren have?"  Barbossa: "We have Calypso."  Now some fancy, creepy music plays in the background.  Sao Feng looks suspiciously over at Elizabeth, then chuckles.  Sao Feng: "Calypso.  An old legend."
Barbossa: "No. The goddess herself bound in human form.  Imagine all the power of the seas brought to bear against our enemy.  I intend to release her.  But for that I need the Brethren Court.  All the Court."  Slowly the crew begins to recognize his plans. Sao Feng: "What are you proposing, captain?"  Barbossa: "What be accepting, cap'n?"  They stroll on over to Elizabeth.  Sao Feng: "The girl."  Elizabeth: "What?"  Will: "Elizabeth is not part of any bargain."  Barbossa agrees, for some reason: "Out of the question."  Sao Feng: "It was not a question."  Elizabeth: "Done."  Will: "What? Not done."  Tensions arise.  Elizabeth: "You got us into this.  If it frees us, then done!"
She's got a point.  If he hadn't called up their enemy to find them, the Black Pearl wouldn't be so crowded.  Will: "Elizabeth, they are pirates."  They are?  You are the one who just betrayed your friends to get them there!  Betrayal and pirates are like two peas and a pod.  (for more about betrayal click here).  Elizabeth: "I have had more than enough experience dealing with pirates."  She shoves him, or is it a hit?  Because he didn't go very far.  Maybe she's just weak.  Barbossa: "Then we have an accord?"  And with that Will watches his beloved fiance (if you can even call them that any more) sail away on the Empress.  That worked out well.

Cutler Beckett is not happy about this escape so he orders Davy Jones to get Sao Feng while he chases the Black Pearl. However Jack very kindly destroys one of the masts on Beckett's ship, slightly delaying they're plan.
The Endeavor might have had trouble catching the Black Pearl but Davy Jones has no trouble finding Sao Feng. The Dutchman and the Empress start attacking each other, killing Sao Feng in the process. He Names Elizabeth as the new captain. However the first mate,Tai Hung, get's a bit jealous. (Really Elizabeth, really?) Tai: "What did he tell You?"
Elizabeth: "He made me captain." He then sorms away, dramatically. But Later When He's captured along with the rest of the crew he changes his mind. Davy Jones: "Who amond you do you name as captain?" Tai Hung: "Captain? Her.[points at Elizabeth]" The crew mumbles they're agreement. Elizabeth and "her crew" are hauled onto the Dutchman.  That makes three ships in one day for Elizabeth.  Isn't this some sort of record?

"I Am Here To Negotiate"

Now that Pintel and Ragettie have cornered Elizabeth in the closet, Elizabeth has no other option but to blurt out: "Parley!" In her super British accent, it sounds kinda like Polly.  Pintel: "What?" Elizabeth: "Parley.  I invoke the right of parley.  According to the Code of the Brethren set down by Morgan and Bartholomew (the French), you have to take me to your captain."  Pintel: "I know the code."  Elizabeth: "If an adversary demands parley, you can do no harm until the parley is complete."  Ragettie: "To blazes with the Code."  Pintel: "She wants toe be taken the the captain and she'll go without a fuss.  We must honor the Code."  Normally, it would see me like Pintel is being a civilized pirate (if there is such a thing), but he says this is creepily that it's hard for Elizabeth to be thankful for another few minutes of her life.
So they honor the code by taking her onto the Black Pearl.  We catch a glimpse of Captain Hector Barbossa standing on the quarterdeck, watching the fighting go on with Jack the monkey on his shoulder.  One of the crew mates, however, does not appreciate Elizabeth's presence.  Crew mate: "I didn't know we was takin' on captives."  Pintel gets very excited about this for some reason: "She's invoked the right of parley with Captain Barbossa."  Elizabeth sees this as the time to break loose and act superior: "I am here to . . ."  The crew member quickly slaps her across the face and says, "You will speak when spoken to."
Now, normally I would be begging for him to do it again, but at this part of the movie, I don't exactly hate Elizabeth, entirely.  I mean, she's going through a lot at that moment, being on a pirate ship and all, at least hear her out.  Barbossa doesn't approve of this behavior either: "And ye will not lay a hand on those under the protection of parley."  Crew: "Aye, sir."  Barbossa: "My apologies, miss."  For slapping her in the face, robbing her house, or destroying her town?  Elizabeth: "Captain Barbossa, I am here to negotiate the cessation of hostilities against Port Royal."  Barbossa is rather taken aback by this: "There were a lot of long words there, miss.  We're not but humble pirates.  What is it that you want?"  Elizabeth: "I want you to leave and never come back."  This is rather amusing to the pirates.  As though they'd just give up pillaging and plundering because some mildly pretty girl tells them to.  Barbossa: "I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request."  Now it's Elizabeth's turn to not understand.  Barbossa: "Means 'no'."
Elizabeth Swann does not take no for an answer: "Very well."  She storms over to the edge of the boat and dangles the medallion on a string into the sea.  Elizabeth: "I'll drop it."  A cannon goes off in the background for dramatic effect.  The whole crew suddenly are paying close attention to her.  Barbossa, stiffly, says: "Me holds are burstin' with swag.  (swag) That a bit of shine matters to us?"  Then he breaks what little character he has: "Why?"  Elizabeth reads him like a book though: "It's what you've been searching for.  I recognize this ship.  I saw it eight years ago on the crossing from England."  Elizabeth recalls the time she rescued Will as a child and took the medallion from him.  He was stranded in the water because lo and behold the Black Pearl had attacked his ship looking for that very medallion.  Well, as you can see they never got it, hence why they are having this conversation in the first place.  Barbossa: "Did you now?"
The many expressions of Elizabeth Swann
Elizabeth, decides a different tactic.  Elizabeth: "Fine.  Well if it is worthless, there's no point in me keeping it."  She loosens her grip on the string and it falls an inch closer to being lost into the ocean.  Why they can't just dig it up later, I've no idea.  Barbossa and the entire crew leap forward and cry "no!".  It's a good thing they're pirates, not actors.  Barbossa realizes that it's really no use any more.  They need precisely what Elizabeth has to offer.  Barbossa: "You have a name, missy?"  Elizabeth: "Elizabeth . . . Turner.  I'm a maid in the governor's household."  I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.  But this makes the life of Elizabeth all the more valuable.  Barbossa: "How does a maid come to own a trinket such as that?  Family heirloom, perhaps?"  Barbossa wants to know if she's related to Bootstrap and therefor has the trinket.  Elizabeth: "I didn't steal it, if that's what you mean."  It wasn't, but Barbossa takes this as, "It was passed down to me from my father who used to be a pirate on this ship, Bootstrap Bill."  Barbossa; "Very well.  You hand it over, and we'll put your twon to ur rudder and ne'er return."  Elizabeth hands him the chain.  Elizabeth: "Our bargain?"
Crew member: "Still the guns and stow 'em." Signal the men and make good to clear port."  But as they are leaving, Elizabeth cries: "Wait! You have to take me to shore!  According to the Code . . ."  How exactly do you know pirates' code again?  Barbossa has other plans though: "First, your return to shore was not part of our negotiations not our agreement, so I must do nothing.  Secondly, you must be a pirate for the Pirates' Code to apply, and you're not.  (Jack would beg to differ).  And thirdly the code is more of what you'd call guidelines than actual rules.  (Tell that to Captain Teague).  Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner."  So acting's not his strongest suit, but with a mind like that Barbossa could make a nice lawyer.  So now Elizabeth is trapped on the Black Pearl because she failed to specify her release.  You know what they say, the devil is in the detail.

"A Betrayer Among Them?"

With all great stories and tails there are little bits of sadness, happiness, love, and betrayal. Join me as I chart my favorite betrayals and betrayers from the Pirates of the Caribbean  series.

4. Jack Sparrow's betrayal of the Crew of the Black Pearl Captained by Hector Barbossa.  To save the life of his friend and conspirator Will Turner and his "Daisy-Belle" Elizabeth Swann; Jack had to go to his longtime enemy James Norrington. He told them of the pirates plan escape, and what the Royal Navy had to do to stop them. Of course Norrington ignored him and carried out his own plan unwittingly steering his crew into an unwinable battle against men who can't die. But this is a Betrayal none the less, even thought Jack failed to help the Navy defeat the pirates.
3. Jack Sparrow's betrayal of  Gibb's to the court. This betrayal was more for fun then anything else. While on trial for piracy etc. Gibbs is accused of being Jack Sparrow, and the Judge Smith(Jack Sparrow) finds him Guilty of: [Bangs his gavel] Joshamee Gibbs. The crime of which you have been found guilty of, is being innocent of being Jack Sparrow. I hereby commute your sentence and order that you be imprisoned for the remainder of your miserable, moribund, mutton-chopped life." Well that was quite creative! Of course Jack has a plan, he hopes on board the prisoner transport vehicle with Gibbs and tells him of his latest plan: Find the Fountain Of Youth.  But his plan is temporarily changed when the transport stops abruptly and Jack is captured by the British....again.
2. Elizabeth's betrayal of Jack, to the Kraken. This is pretty much the most heartless thin Elizabeth Swann has ever committed.  By committing this act of treachery she not only betrayed Jack, but she betrayed her beloved Will too. So lets all learn from this stupidity: Don't try to Kill Jack Sparrow, it will always come back to bite you in the butt. So Jack thought he was finally going to get his kiss from Lizzie, and he did but he also got eaten by the kraken. On the upside he found his hat!
1.  Jack's betrayal of Angelica and Blackbeard. This is possibly the grossest moment in all time, watching Blackbeard have his flesh ripped from his skin, and his bones dissolved. Fun, ehh?   Leading up to this moment Angelica had planned to give her own life to save the life of her "Father". But Jack couldn't let that happen! So he switched up the chalices and saved Angelica, who didn't appreciate being saved at all! Angelica: [to Jack]: "You bastard! How could you?!" Jack Sparrow: "Your father saved you. Perhaps his soul is now redeemed, hey!" Angelica: "I hate you!" Jack Sparrow: "The bloke who saved your life?" Angelica: "The years I posses, stolen from my own father!" Jack Sparrow: "I only helped Blackbeard do what any father should have done." Angelica: "You are cruel and ignorant. "      How ungrateful!

Well there you have it my top 4 betrayals and betrayers, seems like Jack has his hands in a bunch of these sticky situations, but we still love him right?

"They've Come To Kidnap You"

We first catch a glimpse of The Black Pearl, in The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.  But at this point, Barbossa is still captain and Jack is thirsty for revenge.  It all seems like a quite, peaceful night, but one by one the people of Port Royal can tell that a dark spell has been cast on their city.  Elizabeth is in bed when her light suddenly flickers and is blown out.  Will is still working at the at the blacksmith's when some pretty haunting music begins to play.  He looks outside the window to the foggy alleyway.  Norrington and the governor are walking along the fort discussing Norrington's marriage to Elizabeth.  Weatherby also notices the change in the atmosphere: "Ghastly weather, don't you think?"  Norrington: "Bleak.  Really bleak."  Governor: "What's that?"  And then the first cannon is shot, right into the port.  Newly Commodore Norrington instructs the solders to "Return fire!"
Meanwhile, the shot can be heard in Jack's cell.  As you can assume, this gets him very excited.  Jack: "I know those guns.  It's the Pearl."  Prisoner: "The Black Pearl?"  Other prisoner: "I've heard stories."  First prisoner: "She's been preying on ships and settlements for near ten years.  Never leaves any survivors."  That sounds enjoyable.  Jack: "No survivors?    Then where do the stories come from, I wonder."  Dead men tell no tales.  This seems to stump the other prisoners.  All out war has begun against Port Royal.  The Black Pearl continues to hurl cannons at the settlement, all in order to get that one piece of cursed Aztec gold that hangs around Elizabeth's neck.
Buildings begin to fall and people flee for their lives.  However, this doesn't seem to do enough damage because they still need the last piece of gold to set the Black Pearl free from the curse.  So they begin to take row boats onto land to kill some more people, and being immortal, they are pretty good at it.  Will grabs his weapons from the blacksmith's shop and goes to help defend his town.  Back at the fort, Norrington and his men are trying hard to take the down the Pearl, but they are failing badly.  Norrington: "Sight the muzzle flash.  I need a full spread, fore and aft.  Mr. Stevens, more cartridges.  Governor, barricade yourself in my office.  That's an order."  Norrington is taking control!
Pintel and Ragettie, crew members of the Black Pearl, make their way to the Governor's palace to find the medallion and maybe scrape up some more gold.  Elizabeth, who sees them coming up to her house, tries to warn the butler not to let them in, but it's too late.  He's shot and the pirates are after her now.  As she tries to run away, the maid stops her.  Maid: "They've come to kidnap you!"  Elizabeth: "What?" Maid: "You're the governor's daughter!"  Elizabeth thinks that they want to hold her hostage for ransom, but really they want more than that: her necklace and her blood to sacrafice.  Elizabeth does a pretty good job in delaying Pintel and Ragetti, but it's madness inside the house and servants are being killed everywhere.
Elizabeth, who is too weak to get the sword of the wall to defend herself, takes refuge in a closet.  At first, the pirates think that she escaped from the window, but since their pirates they can sense that the medallion is near them.  Pintel: "We know you're here, poppet."  Ragetti: "Poppet!"  Pintel: "Come out.  We promise we wont' hurt you."  This statement doesn't fool Elizabeth, but it tricks Ragetti, who doesn't understand why they would kill all the people in the town and hunter her down just to let her go.  The Ragetti realizes that Pintel is just trying to trick Elizabeth.  Pintel: "We will find you, poppet.  You've got something of ours, and it calls to us.  The gold calls to us."  That's when Elizabeth realizes that it's her little trinket that they want.  Pintel and Ragetti have also realized that she's in the closet because of the crease in the carpet in front of it.  Ragetti: "The gold."  Elizabeth examines the necklace in the light coming from the crack.  When she looks up, Pintel's beautiful eye is staring straight at her.  Pintel: "Hello, poppet."

"With Your Permission, Your Heinie"

After arriving in the king's palace, Jack is litterally dragged by the guards to a meeting with King George II.  They take him to the dining room and chain him to the chair.  Then they leave him all alone in a room full of food: bad decision.  Jack gets a little hungry and can't stop admiring the cream puff in front of him.  With his hands still chained down, he finds a way to move his chair closer to the table.
But he runs out of time and the king and his men come in.  Desparately, Jack bumps the table so the cream puff falls off and then kicks it upward, where it is nicely perched on the chandelier.  So much for that.  For now.  The very attractive king takes his seat and the other men crowd around him to interrogate Jack.  There's a super awkward silenec, which is broken by one of the men to the left of the king: "You are Jack Sparrow?"  Jack: "There should be a captain in there somewhere."  You really can't forget that.  King: "I've heard of you.  And you know who I am."  Jack: "Face is familiar.  Have I threatened you before?"  Man: "You are in the presence of George Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg, Archtreasure and Prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire, King of Great Britain and Ireland, and of you."  Wow.  Try saying that one five times quickly.  Jack: "Doesn't ring a bell." King: "I am informed you have come to London to procure a crew for your ship."  Jack: "Vicious rumor.  Not true."  Uh-oh.  Identification crisis.  King: "Then you lied to me when you told me you were Jack Sparrow."  Jack: "I am Jack Sparrow, but I'm not here to procure a crew.  That is . . . Someone else."
Jack starts to move his arms around, clanging the chains about.  King: "Ah.  Someone else named Jack Sparrow.  You've brought me the wrong wastrel.  Find the proper one and dispose of this impostor."  You really must hold onto your name tighly in England.  Jack makes more noice with his chains to get their attention.  Jack: "No, wait, wait, wait.  Hang on a minute.  I'm Jack Sparrow, the one and only.   And I am in London."  Thank you for clearing that up, we can see you.  King: "To procure a crew.  To undertake a voyage to the fountain." Jack doesn't here any of this as he is being extra obnoxious with his chains.  Jack: "What?"  The king gets rather tired of being interrupted.  King: "Will someone please remove these infernal chains?"  Jack agrees: "Come, come."  Man: "We know you're in posession of a map."
Other man: "So confiscate the map, and to ghe gallows with him!"  That's rude.  Take his stuff and hang him???  King: "Have you a map?"  Jack reaches into his JACKet to get the maps out, but feels nothing.  Awkward.  Jack: "No."  Man: "Where is it?"  Jack: "The truth?  I lost it.  Quite recently, in fact."  King: "I have a report.  The Spanish have located the Fountain of Youth.  I will not have some melancholy Spanish monarch, a Catholic, gain eternal life."  Excsue me!  As Catholics, they've already got eternal life.  Jack just walks around nibbling on food as the king bangs angrily on the table.  Man: "You do know the way to the Fountain?"  Jack: "Of course I do.  Look at me." Gladly.  Other man: "You could guide an expedition."  Jack likes the sound of this.  Jack: "Wtih your permission, your heinie, you will be providing, then, a ship . . . and a crew?"  King: "And a captian."  Party's over.
Especially when Jack realizes that this "captain" is none other than Barbossa, his good old friend.  This wouldn't be the first time Barbossa has stolen captaincy from Jack.  But things get better when Barbossa shares that the Black Pearl has been stolen.  Barbossa happens to almost look as attractive as King George II.  King: "Captain Barbossa, each second we tally, the Spanish out distance us.  I have every confidence you will prevail and be rewarded with the high station you so desire."  Barbossa: "To serve doth suffice, sire." What a kiss-up.  And now he's talking like Shakespear.  Jack agrees with me.  Jack: "You, sire, have stooped."  Barbossa: "Jack, our sands be all but run.  Where's the harm in joining the winnig side?  And you do meet a nice class of person."  Jack: "I understand evertying.  Except that wig."  With that, Jack ditches his two guards, makes their guns shoot upward at the chandelier, climbs onto the table, stomps on perfectly good food, and breaks open a window.  But he's still missing the cream puff.  So he uses the curtain to grab hold of the chandelier as it wobbles back and forth.  Finally, he has the cream puff so he runs away through the upper hallway.  King: "He escaped?"  Barbossa: "Leave it to me, sire."  The king is so pleased by this he makes a very stunning happy face that is probably as gorgeous as Medusa's.

"There'll Be No Knowing Here"

Now that Jack and his crew are same on board the Black Pearl, Jack's next obstacle is avoiding the kraken and Davy Jones.  He leads the crew inland, into the swamps.  Will gets rather suspicious of Jack's behavior though.  Will: "Why is Jack afraid of the open ocean?"  Gibbs: "Well, if you believe such things, there's a beast that does the bidding of Davy Jones.  A fearsome creature with griant tentacles that'll suction your face clean off and drag an entire ship down to the crushing darkness.  The kraken.  They say the stench of its breath is like . . . Imagine, the last thing you know on God's green earth is the roar of the kraken and the reeking odor of a thousand rotting corpses."  Oh, I might just take the cannibals instead!  Gibbs, who realizes that he just disturbed everyone on the row boat, continues, "If you believe such things."  Will: "And the key will spare him that?"  Gibbs: "Well, that's the very question Jack wants answered.  Bad enough even to go visit . . . her."  Will: "Her?"  Gibbs: "Aye."
They pull up to Tia Delma's shack But by now they're all scared so Jack "reasures" them. Jack: "No worries mates. Tia Delma and I go way back. Thick as theives.[Where have I heard that before?]  Nigh inseparable, we are. Were. Have beeen. Before." Gibbs: "I'll watch your back." Jack: "It's me front I'm worried about." Now suddenly all of the crew wants to go inside to see what happens, but somebody has to watch the boat.  So of course, they make the person who can't object do it: Cotton.  Tia: "Jack Sparrow." Jack: "Tia Dalma." He nearly bonks his head on the jar of who-knows-what. Tia Dalma: "I always knew the wind was going to blow you back to me one day."  Jack smiles at her, but he's still slightly creeped out by the strang concoctions all over her house.  Tia Dalma turns her attention to Will though.  Tia: "You . . . you have a touch of . . . destiny about you, William Turner."  Will, who has nevery seen this bizzare woman in his life, is a little shocked that she knows his name.
Will: "You know me?"  This also puzzles Jack a bit.  Tia Dalma: "You want to know me."  Jack: "There'll be no knowing here.  We've come for help and we're not leaving without it.  I thought I knew you."  Jack is getting slightly jealous.  Tia: "Not so well as I had hoped.  Come."  Jack: "Come."  Tia Dalma continues to hit on Will: "What service may I do you?"  Then she yells at Jack: "You know I memand payment." Jack: "I brought payment.  Look.  An undead monkey.  Top that."  Tia Dalma seems content, and lets the monkey out of its cage.  Gibbs: "Don't!  you've no idea how long it took us to catch that."  Tia Dalma: "The payment is fair."  Will cuts right to the point: "We're looking for this.  And what it goes to."  Tia Dalma: "The compass you bartered from me, it cannot lead you to this?"  Jack: "Maybe.  Why?"  Tia Dalma can see right through him: "I hear you.  Jack Sparrow does not know what he wants.  Or do you know, but are loath to claim it as your own?"  Jack just blows on a string hanging from the ceiling.  Tia: "Your key go to a chest.  And it is what lay inside the best that you seek, dont' it?"  Tia Dalma just has really great grammar, don't she?
She then shares with great grammar what happened to Davy Jones and why his heart is hidden the this chest, as Jack steals a few things around the hut.  Davy Jones, who used to be a good person and sailor, fell in love with Calypso, the goddess of the sea.  But it was too hard for him to leave her for ten years to sail the seas, so he did what thought was the only option for him.  He cut out his heart (yes, his actual heart, not "figuratively") and put it inside the chest.  For some reason this story greatly intrigues Will.  Cutting out his hear and locking it up seems to have some kind of effect to him.  I wonder why . . .  Could it be this touch of destiny?  Tia Dalma: "The key he keep with him at all times."  Will to Jack: "You knew this."  Jack: "I did not.  I didn't know where the key was.  But now we do.  All that's left is climb aboard the Flying Dutchman, grab the key, you go back to Port Royal and save your bonnie lass."  Will, thinking of his love for a young lady, gets back to the point.  Will: "It seems we have a need to find the Flying Dutchman."  This makes Tia Dalma very pleased.  Tia: "A touch of destiny!"  Where do you think this destiny will lead him?
